First you need to find the best sources of information to take notes from. In this stage, you'll create a list of possible sources with a rating identifying which sources are the best.
First decide where to look for information.

There are many different types of sources that you can use, including:
- books, encyclopedia, journals
- newspapers, magazines - watch for bias & currency <learn more>
- videos, tv, audio clips
- online databases of the above (journals, magazines, videos, etc.)

- Thompson Gale <learn more about using Gale>
- Wikipedia - not necessarily reliable <learn more about reliability>
- Internet websites - not necessarily reliable <learn more about reliability>
- interview an expert
- perform your own experiments
