Introduction to Visual Arts
The Visual Arts Department is committed to maximizing the artistic
potential of every student. We fulfill this mission by providing rich
and diverse programs that build skills, and prepares our students for
a changing world.
The Visual Arts program is all about success, all about maximizing the
artistic potential of every student in a supportive environment. The staff
at Huron has diverse training with expertise in all areas from sculpture
to photography; from art history to leading edge computer graphics and
animation. We have three large art studios, a computer graphic & digital
animation facility, and the largest darkroom facilities in York Region.
Visual Arts Council
Join the Visual Arts Council and be part of the scene. The Visual arts
Council is a group of students committed to enhancing student life through
Visual Art activities. They are ambassadors for the creative spirit at
Huron Heights. Aside from being the behind the scenes labor for many events,
including events such as the Pumpkin Show, Sucker for Art fund raising
campaign, and Visual Arts field trips.
Arts Huron
Aside from the twenty-two Visual Arts courses offered at Huron Heights,
students also have the option to take classes in Dance, Drama, Music and
Technology. Students registering in the Arts Huron program are eligible
for an Arts Huron Certificate upon graduation with the successful completion
of seven or more credits in the Arts. Students also benefit from being
a part of a community of students driven towards a career in the Arts,
an art-centric staff, and the opportunity to choose from a wide variety
of courses. Huron offers the largest and most encompassing art program
in York Region.
