Peer Helpers
Any students who are in grade nine or who are new to Huron Heights may
join the peer helper team. Please see Ms. Lumley in guidance for more
information.
"You make a life by what you give"
Peer Helpers is a student lead organization to support our students and
the community.
Huron's Peer Helpers hold events to support:
- The Blood Donor Clinic
- Hoops for Heart
- Yellow Brick House
- Christmas Wish Foundation
To support these charity events, the group tries to come up with activities
that are fun for all, and will also raise money to go toward the charities
listed above. Some of these fun activities include:
- A Talent Show
- Student vs. Teacher Basketball Game
- Book Drives
- Penny Drives
The group also helps out at parent night's and post secondary fairs.
Sometimes, a student will have an issue that they will not feel comfortable
discussing with a teacher in guidance. In these cases, our Peer Helpers
are here to help. Just ask Mrs. Lumley or Mr. Gorman to set you up with
a Peer Helper. The meeting that will then take place with the student
and the Peer Helper will remain confidential. This group is also here
to give tours to new students coming to Huron.
Unfortunately we are not looking for any additions to our group at this
moment. But, if you wish to join this supportive group, contact Mrs. Lumley
or Mr. Gorman for more details.
